I have excellent results using Golden Syrup in Australia. It is a pourable sandwich spread made from sugar and water. 1 Australian Tablespoon 20 mls to 1 egg, especially nice in pancakes or pikelets or flapjacks, reduce sugar content by 1 tablespoon. Similar products would be Karo or corn syrup or glucose syrup, some of these suggestions may need more water added to obtain a jam or fruit jelly consistency that sticks to a spoon and only slowly drips like a thick custard. Maple syrup would be too liquid compared with glucose syrup and

Hi, I would love to take part in this event. Not that I don't eat eggs, but I would love to try out things withoutn eggs too, for my father's sake, who doen't eat them. Now that I have become such a "big" baker!
But, one thing I wanted to clarify: i am a bit confused that you have included gelatin powder as a veg substitute for eggs, as it is an animal product, unless you mean something like agar agar or something I'm not aware of. If yes, it isn't obvious here. Thanks!

Welcome PG. I'm glad that you are interested in the event. Thanks for the heads up about the gelatin powder. I did mean vegetarian gelatin powder like agar agar. I'll update it.

 hey
this would be my first blog event if i m able to praticipate :)
jus a small query, it has to b sweet? or savory is ok?

Welcome Mahima. It can either be savory or sweet, but the original recipe must have eggs and you should be substituting silken tofu for it.
