What causes Egg Allergy?

An allergy is generally caused by a protein found in a food that causes an abnormal reaction in a person's immune system. Two factors are necessary for a food allergy to occur are genetic predisposition and exposure to the food. The reaction varies from mild to life-threatening, depending on the person and the amount of egg consumed.
An egg allergy usually occurs during the first year of life-when eggs are first introduced to a baby's diet.

Hi,
I am nmew to this forum although i have been getting recipes from this site for a few motnhs now. I have never found other people until now, who talk about egg allergies, or have recipes to make up for what they are missing. I have been allergic to eggs (and peanuts) since I was a baby. It is hard sometimes and frustrating and I make mistakes and sometimes have reactions. This site is great b/c I can bake now, when I never knew I could before. Does anyone have similar experiences?

Both egg yolks and egg whites contain a number of proteins that can cause allergies, but allergy to egg white is more common. It's possible for breast-fed infants to have an allergic reaction to egg proteins in breast milk.

What medicines are available to heal the egg allergies?I don't think that eating eggs thrice in a week is harmful.
